Governor's Message

Jakarta Capital City Government

As the Governor of Jakarta, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Indonesian capital, a strategic metropolis in the Asia-Pacific Region. You’ll find it a fascinating backdrop for your meetings; a unique blend of traditional Indonesian life with world-class facilities and service in a city like no other.

One of the world’s largest tropical cities, Jakarta is an economic powerhouse now into a second decade of growth. It is also home to 12 million of the friendliest, most-welcoming people you’ll find anywhere. Jakartans are hospitable, industrious and ever-attentive to guests needs, whether technical, business-related or social. Our five-star hotels offer facilities of the highest standard. More than forty leading hotels have meetings facilities to match any in our region, while our convention and exhibition facilities have had many years experience in handling large events. Affordable luxury is a feature of life here.

While you are out and about in Jakarta, you will find an international level of sophistication in our many shopping malls, and an intriguing mix of trendy boutiques and galleries.

You can enjoy all of the world’s major cuisines on offer, but may I suggest that you also sample some authentic Indonesian food at one of our many restaurants, before heading off to enjoy our exciting nightlife scene.

Our administration has also steadily been improving urban infrastructure to help people move about, and increasing green recreational areas. So please consider what we have to offer.

I proudly present to you this, our 2010-2011 JAKARTA BUSINESS EVENTS - Meeting Planners’ Guide, prepared by the Jakarta Convention & Exhibition Bureau, an important part of my administration since I established it in 1994.
